Working Group on further strengthening the review process of the Treaty
The Tenth Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons decided to establish a Working Group on further strengthening the review process of the Treaty, open to all States parties (see NPT/CONF.2020/DEC.2).
States Parties subsequently decided by silence procedure to hold the meeting of the Working Group from 24–28 July 2023 at the United Nations Office in Vienna. It will be chaired by the chair-designate of the First Preparatory Committee meeting, H.E. Ambassador Jarmo Viinanen of Finland.

Participation and Access

States Parties have provisionally agreed that the meetings of the working group will be held in private. States Parties have provisionally agreed that a two-hour period within one meeting of the working group on Tuesday 25 July from 10am to 12pm will be dedicated to presentations by NGOs on the substance of the working group. This two-hour period will be webcast. NGOs making presentations will be selected according to past practice related to NGO participation in the NPT review cycle.
Only NGOs making presentations during the session on Tuesday 25 July will receive grounds passes that are valid for access to the meeting. NGOs making presentations must be accredited. Nongovernmental organisations are requested to coordinate among themselves in deciding which representatives that will speak under the session allocated for presentations by non-governmental organisations. Side Events and Exhibitions
There are no rooms available for holding side events during the meetings of the working group. NGOs are encouraged to consider the possibility of organizing virtual side events. There will also be no space available for exhibitions during the meetings of the working group.
