First Preparatory Committee on the Arms Trade Treaty

The first Preparatory Committee for the UN Conference on an Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) met at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City from 12–23 July 2010. The purpose of the four Preparatory Committees is to make recommendations on the elements that would be needed to attain an effective and balanced legally-binding instrument on the highest possible common international standards for the transfer of conventional arms. The ATT is to be negotiated in July 2012.

Chair: Ambassador Roberto García Moritán (Argentina)
