Third Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons set to begin next week
States parties and signatories to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) will gather next week for their third meeting at a time of rising fascism and accelerating militarism. But this is not a time for despair; it’s time for action. There is already plenty on the table, from the forthcoming UN panel on the effects of nuclear war and ongoing work on a trust fund for victim assistance and environmental remediation, to proposals for disarmament verification and protocols for affected community engagement. Nuclear abolition can be achieved through divestment, direct action, and determined political engagement at the Third Meeting of States Parties (3MSP) and beyond.
