Autonomous weapons GGE Chair holds informal consultation with CCW observers

On 6 June 2024, the Chair of the Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems (LAWS), Ambassador Robert in den Bosch of Netherlands, held an informal consultation with observers. The consultation focused on two topics: 1) A common understanding on the working characterisation of LAWS; and 2) The application of existing international humanitarian law (IHL) rules and measures needed to ensure compliance with existing IHL and possible new rules.
