First Committee concludes its 77th session
On Friday, 4 November 2022, the UN General Assembly's First Committee on Disarmament and International Security concluded its work. The Committee adopted 74 resolutions and decisions, but the entire five weeks of deliberations were fraught with tensions and bloc fighting. The civil society groups providing reporting and analysis from this year's session have called for states to take urgent measures to de-escalate tensions and demilitarise and denuclearise international relations.
