NPT Review Conference postponed until 2022

States parties to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) have agreed to tentative new dates for the Tenth NPT Review Conference. It is scheduled to take place from 4–28 January 2022 at UN Headquarters in New York, subject to COVID-19 developments. The president-designate will convene informal consultations with all states parties in October 2021 to evaluate the situation and conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to confirm the dates of the Conference. At this time there is no further information about civil society access and participation, or about the conference’s format and modalities. Further consultations on these details will take place in October.
